Shablau does not collect personal data. The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it makes no network requests. What the app stores stays on your iPhone.
Who we are
Shablau is made by Atomic Reps AB, Arvid Tydéns Allé 28, 171 69 Solna, Sweden ("we", "us"). Contact us at support@atomicreps.com.
The microphone
The app uses the microphone only while you record a word, or while you record a reading (see Readings). iOS shows the microphone indicator while it does. The app scores the recording on your iPhone. The sound is not sent anywhere.
What stays on your iPhone
- Scores and practice history: the score for each sound and each word, and which words you have practised.
- Your recordings: the takes you record, so that you can play them again. If you turn off "Keep my recordings" in Settings, the app saves only the scores.
- Names of the people who practise: if you add a person under Settings › Who is speaking, the name you type, so that each person's scores stay separate.
- Settings: for example the pass line, the accent you compare with, and sounds and vibration.
We cannot see any of this data. Your recordings are excluded from iCloud and computer backups. Your scores and settings can be part of your iPhone backup, which Apple handles under its own terms. Deleting the app deletes all of this data from your iPhone.
Readings
Settings › Record a reading is for native Swedish speakers who agree to read a short text aloud to help improve the app's scoring. A reading is the recorded audio, plus the reader's name and town or region, which the reader types at the start. A reading is saved on the iPhone and is excluded from backups. It leaves the iPhone only if you press Send to Mac, which opens the iOS share sheet. You then choose where it goes, for example AirDrop to a Mac. If you sent us a reading and want it deleted, write to support@atomicreps.com.
TestFlight
While Shablau is in testing, you install it through Apple's TestFlight app. Apple then shares some information with us, under Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy policy:
- your name and email address, if we invited you by email;
- which builds you installed, when, and how many sessions and crashes each build had;
- crash reports, when your iPhone is set to share them with app developers;
- feedback, screenshots and comments that you choose to send us.
We use this information only to fix and improve Shablau. To stop testing, delete the app and leave the test in the TestFlight app. To have us delete feedback you sent, write to support@atomicreps.com.
If you write to us
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply to you, and we delete them when they are no longer needed for that.
Children
Shablau is for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly receive data from children under 13.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. The only personal data we can hold comes from TestFlight and from emails you send us. Write to support@atomicreps.com. You can also complain to the Swedish data protection authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).
Changes to this policy
If the app starts to collect data, we will change this policy before that version is released, and change the date at the top of this page.
